Meet Us

Cedarwood Psychology is a small Halifax practice that specializes in evidence-based assessment and therapy tailored to individual needs. The practice's goal is to provide access to high-quality services to the wonderful communities of Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Provinces.

What can you expect from Cedarwood?

If you’re looking for a high-quality assessment, know that you’re in the right place. We do not shortcut assessments. Our diagnostic approach seeks to facilitate a fuller understanding of core issues and create individualized action plans, rather than quickly apply a label and get you out the door.

In therapy, we strive to be easy to talk to and oriented towards your perspective. What do you want to be different? What do you find hard? The first and most important step is understanding what matters to you.

Drew McClure

Raised in Kentucky, Drew (he/him) graduated from the University of Louisville with a double major in English and Art. After moving to Canada, he spent 10 years with the Richmond Rapids Swim Club in BC, focused on athlete development, curriculum, and coach mentorship. Drew then completed a Masters of Counselling from City University, where he focused on gender, sexuality, relationships, and body image.

Drew specializes in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) in both individual and couples work. EFT is an evidence-based experiential style of therapy that works with a client’s response to challenging emotions. Based in attachment theory, clients learn to identify protective styles (e.g., anxiety, avoidance, withdraw, substance abuse) and develop tolerance and agency within distress. This approach is helpful in relationships, self-image, grief, attachment injuries, trauma, and many other challenges.

Drew works with adults ages 19+. He is experienced with gender- and sexual identity-diverse clients, and welcomes all cultural and historical backgrounds.

Drew is a registered counselling therapist-candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) and is supervised by Derrick McEachern, M.Ed, RCT, CCC. Drew currently serves as Treasurer on the NSCCT Board.

As required of all registrants of the college, here are relevant links to the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The NSCCT complaints process can be found here and here.
