Adult Assessment

Types of Assessments

  • An adult autism spectrum disorder assessment is for individuals with differences in social communication, (e.g, starting and keeping friends, holding conversation). This assessment may also be for individuals who experience sensory information differently (e.g., sight, sound, touch), have areas of passionate interest, and/or enjoy predictability and repetition.

  • An attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder assessment is for individuals that experience difficulties regulating attention (i.e., maintaining focus, switching focus) and/or often fidget or feel restless.

  • A psychoeducational assessment is for individuals who experience learning challenges in reading, writing, or mathematics and are looking for accommodations within educational or occupational settings.

  • Not sure what you need? It can be difficult to know before getting an assessment! Let your psychologist actively guide the process by following information as it is gathered, rather than trying to guess the destination at the start.

Let’s figure out what’s happening.

  • Diagnosis

Psychological assessment can determine if and how developmental and neurological differences influence your life. An assessment can also provide other explanations for your experience, expanding beyond a surface-level diagnosis to understand the root of your issue.

  • Development

A diagnosis is valuable only if it helps your life. Your Cedarwood psychological assessment also includes individually tailored recommendations to help you better adapt and succeed.

  • Customized Testing

At Cedarwood, your testing battery will be matched to your symptoms and needs, no matter how straightforward or complex. If we discover a new aspect of your case during interview or testing, we’ll adjust the battery to make sure we understand the issue.

  • How does it work?

Your assessment starts with an interview and resource gathering. We’ll work to understand your goals, experiences, and history. Interviews with family and friends may be included.

Your testing battery and necessary followups comes next.

Lastly, we’ll create a report on the findings and schedule a session to go over the results and recommendations.

Please note:

All assessments require in-person attendance. Portions of the interview process may be done via telehealth, depending on the specific assessment.

While this may be inconvenient for some clients, in-person attendance is vital to providing the highest quality assessment.
